Registered Professional Engineer, Alaska: CE-7794

Mr. Nyman is a lifelong Alaskan resident with 25 years of Alaska engineering experience. Throughout his career he has focused on providing integrated civil/environmental engineering services to governmental and private clients. He worked as an environmental engineer at the Alaska Railroad in the late 1980’s and as manager of engineering for ENSR Consulting in the early 1990s. He founded RSE in 1994 and has served as it Principal to the present date. He is a recognized expert in environmental investigation and remediation and consults extensively in the area or pollution prevention including SPCC and SWPPP planning efforts. He frequently serves clients by designing water and wastewater treatment systems, conducted research on water quality issues for Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, Environmental Protection Agency, Alaska Department of Transportation and bioregional watershed stewardship organizations. Research has been focused on bioremediation in cold climates, groundwater and surface water interactions relative to anadromous fish habitat, and constructed wetlands for stormwater treatment His projects include working to develop restoration plans for riparian and wetland systems and includes the development of fish habitat or enhanced natural revegetation of disturbed areas. In addition, Mr. Nyman has expertise in geohydrologic studies and remedial design for contaminated sites with a particular expertise in Internet based data management systems. Mr. Nyman applies sustainable development principals to his development projects including site development plans, mining and oil exploration projects. He experience includes providing engineering services in logistically complex situations, waste characterization and management, landfill design, containment design, and RCRA or CERCLA compliance.

Patrick Athey

Education
M.S. Botany
B.S. Botany

Patrick Athey is a botanist and environmental scientist focused on the assessment, planning and permitting of development projects that involve aquatic resources in Alaska. Mr. Athey has extensive experience with wetlands delineation and mapping, restoration, mitigation, environmental monitoring, botanical surveys, and risk assessment at sites throughout Alaska. He has a broad range of experience working with developers in obtaining federal and state permits for site developments, roads, pipelines, and other facilities in Alaska. He has worked on contamination issues in Alaska wetlands, including the use of natural wetlands for treatment of water-borne contaminants and the evaluation of potential impacts to receiving water bodies. Mr. Athey has conducted field studies and investigations at sites throughout Alaska over the past 18 years, including remote areas of the Aleutian Islands and the North Slope. He has worked with residential, industrial and commercial developers in Alaska to resolve wetland and aquatic habitat issues in project designs and permit applications. He is knowledgeable of the documentation necessary for National Environmental Policy Act compliance, and is experienced in giving testimony on project alternatives and environmental issues in public meetings, and he has done public outreach for projects including television, radio and newspaper interviews. Mr. Athey also has performed the documentation and public participation that are required for private, state, and federal cleanup projects, having provided public testimony on selected remedial alternatives and the results of studies and risk assessments.

Craig Alan McCauley

Lucas Gamble

Education
M.S. Candidate Environmental Science
B.S. Environmental Science

Lucas was born in Spenard, Alaska and his lived in Anchorage since 1979. He attended the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, Alaska, where he received a BS in Environmental Science. Lucas is currently a MS candidate at Alaska Pacific University. Lucas is studying the frequency, duration and magnitude of outbursts floods from glacial Lake Ahtna in the Copper River Basin, Alaska. Professionally, Lucas has preformed numerous Environmental Site Assessments (both Phase I and Phase II); Hydrologic and Hydrogeologic studies, including a reconnaissance level survey of hydrologic conditions of the Matanuska River and 16 of its tributaries; Geologic studies, including landscape level cross sections of major geologic features and groundwater/surface water interactions along the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska; Storm Water Pollution and Prevention (SWPP) plans; Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans; Water and Wastewater studies; and various other environmental field related projects. Lucas has been with RSE since 2001.

Adinda Demske Graham R. Stahnke

Education
M.S. Environmental Quality Engineering
B.S. Chemical Engineering

Mr. Stahnke attended Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, where he completed a BS in Chemical Engineering while maintaining enough sanity and balance to put in many days skiing powder on the local slopes of Bridger Bowl and Big Sky. Graham then moved to Alaska and attended the University of Alaska in Anchorage where he worked cooperatively with RSE on delineating and ameliorating fecal coliform bacterial pollution in Chester Creek. Mr. Stahnke’s efforts focused specifically on using Antibiotic Resistance Analysis to track potential sources of fecal pollution in the watershed. Mr. Stahnke joined the RSE team in the summer of 2005 following completion of an MS in Environmental Quality Engineering. Professionally, Graham has experience with projects ranging from water and wastewater system design to environmental site investigation and remediation. Mr. Stahnke has prepared facility spill plans (SPCC) and storm water plans (SWPPP) for industrial and commercial clients throughout Alaska. Mr. Stahnke has participated in numerous site cleanup efforts, many of which have resulted in no further remedial action being necessary. Additionally, Graham has experience leading permitting efforts on a wide range of projects, from water and wastewater systems to temporary camps and mining operations.

Wendi Deschamps

Education

B.S. Natural Science

Ms. Deschamps holds a BS in Natural Sciences from University of Alaska, Anchorage and brings more than 8 years of environmental permitting, planning and site characterization experience to RSE. Wendi frequently conducts Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) and Storm Water Pollution and Prevention Plans (SWPPP) projects including facility inspections, mapping, AST integrity testing documentation review, and RCRA compliance auditing. She has worked on facility-wide SPCCs for the ADOT Fairbanks and Anchorage Airports, as well as maintaining ADOT compliance with Community Right to Know under EPCRA. She assisted in development of multiple SWPPP and SPCC plans. She is experienced in Alaska native plant studies and field wetland delineation and assessment. She also has experience conducting water and soil sampling in accordance with ADEC and EPA criteria for RSE clients.

Staci Griffin

Education

B.S. Ecology

During summer months, Mrs. Griffin primary has responsibility for wetland delineation in support of RSE’s biological sciences efforts. During winter months, Mrs. Griffin provides support to RSE’s environmental engineering efforts, including Storm Water Pollution and Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and site investigations. Mrs. Griffin brings a wealth of experience in biological assessment in fisheries habitat and restoration efforts and mycological and botanical surveys. She has worked as a field technician for private and governmental organizations.

Kent Scheler
